TWIST (Together We Invest for Systems Transformation) is a collective of investors, practitioners, and facilitators from around the world who are actively deploying capital and/or facilitating processes for positive systems change.

We envision a world in which all capitals are effectively activated for positive systems transformation, where resilient systems sustain and regenerate life. TWIST’s role is to activate the investor community and foster an enabling environment for positive systems transformation. We invite you to join us on this mission.

TWIST Ecosystem

The TWIST Ecosystem thrives on the collective wisdom of the TWIST Community of Practice members and the TWIST Partners, who have shaped our mission and activities from the very beginning. Since our inception, their lived experiences and deep expertise have shaped our mission and refined our approach to investing for systems change.

Our collective brings together a diverse range of asset owners (i.e., family offices, high-net-worth individuals, foundations and financial institutions), and enablers of systems change (i.e., academics, coalition leaders, asset managers, enabling platforms, consultants and network leaders). These systems change actors also serve as a bridge into the perspectives of many stakeholders, including implementers and individuals affected by the respective system.

Explore TWIST Governance

In reflection of our Theory of Transformation, TWIST governance operates through a two-layer structure: the TWIST Executive Board, responsible for fiscal and strategic oversight, and the TWIST Stewardship Board, which safeguards mission lock and operational integrity by representing the TWIST Theory of Transformation across the domains of Community, Knowledge, and Field Building. The two boards are connected through cross-membership of their Chairs and meet jointly twice a year.

TWIST Story & Founding Steering Committee

TWIST began with a quiet idea. One day, Charly Kleissner (KL Felicitas, Toniic) whispered into Tharald Nustad’s (Katapult Group) ear that he wanted to start an organisation focused on systems change. Tharald was intrigued. The same conversation happened year after year, until one day, they decided to take the leap, and asked Alison Fort (Katapult Foundation) to find somebody to lead this from within the Katapult Foundation. Alison recruited Alexandra (Alie) Korijn, who excitedly jumped right in, as she had been exploring the same idea for several years. TWIST was launched at Katapult Future Fest 2022, with seed funding from the Katapult Foundation and KL Felicitas Foundation. After the launch, Alie convened pioneers in systems change investing to share their practical examples of systems change in action, and explore the question: “What makes systems change investing different from impact investing?”. Many intriguing, thought-provoking conversations ensued, and the community grew organically, with many stakeholders joining the conversation, from pioneering private wealth holders, foundations, networks and intermediaries, to academia.
